In the west you will see both spellings Qi and Chi used to describe exactly the same thing - vital energy. But actually, there are two types of Qi, called the Acquired Qi and the Innate Qi. Perhaps, we can name the Acquired Qi simply as “Qi” and the Innate Qi as “Chi”. The existence of these two forms of Qi is a key concept that many students of qigong, yoga, and meditation have not been given clear understanding of.
